Princess Of Wales Hospital - Bridgend

SSP were asked to develop a system on behalf of our customer AV745, to enable video and audio transmission from operating theatres to a lecture theatre in the hospital.

 The Brief outlined the requirement for a rollabout system which has a camera arm and all equipment contained on the unit for easy storage and multi-room use.  We worked closely with the surgeon involved to develop the system using a simple button control panel that operates a switcher, picture - in - picture unit and DVD / VCR / HD player all housed in a 19" rack mounted onto a trolley base, with LCD monitors for preview and transmission images.

The camera arm and the requirement for it to be multiposition proved a real challenge.  We designed and manufactured a pole system that uses standard mounting poles combined with tailor made components to allow the flexibility required.  This arm allows the user to move the camera into position using one hand and combined with zoom and focus controls on the panel, gives complete functionality.

 The other requirement - to have the mixed output sent via CAT5 is acieved using a simple S0video to CAT5 interface.  In addition the system can be used for local display and recording for later use.
